Phil and I skied a long, stunning couloir on the north side of Prospectors Peak last week. I couldn’t take my eyes of the Peak across the canyon. It was Peak 11094, never heard of it, or of anyone skiing it. It was a balmy 6 deg on the approach up Death Canyon to the Patrol Cabin.
We approached the 11094 by skinning up a mellow drainage and bowl to the east of the south face that led into No Wood Basin. There were great views of the south side of Buck Mt.
We skied down the upper face, then were funneled into the large, rolling, rocky terrain down the east side.
and the men who hold dark places must be the ones who start. mold a new reality, closer to the heart
Remember when we used to crank that shit booting up in the Fort. I think we would wake up the whole building. Many a good day at Alta with that tune in my head.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been jealous of much, this adventure looks like it was amazing. Well done.
i noticed that face as well. thought it would be a good corn ski in the spring. looks like an even better pow ski…nice work!
Thanks Lee, it was a great day. New line for all or us.
Thanks Jay, it was a really unique line to ski early season. Good times exploring new terrain back there.
Hi Mike, Good to talk to you, via bootedandfed.com. As a matter of fact i do remember listening to Rush’s “Closer to the Heart” not to mention E.C.’s “Presence of the Lord” from the rainbow concert, Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” plus “Curtis Lowe” from that box set your mom sent us, Slightly Stoopid’s best cuts and, as always Deadness 2 the core in the Fort. It’s almost ironic how, simultaneoulsy to when we were decyphering the Northern Wahsatch on a daily basis music provided a dialogue professing this utter domination. It was as though we were fabricating a mosiac. God’s decor.
